Do you want a fridge with a sleek and elegant exterior but with function and power? Well, you've found it. I wanted a refrigerator with a sophisticated look on the outside but with a water dispenser. The interior dispenser solved my dilemma. I also had a fridge in the past with a similar bottom freezer but it was too small. This has significantly more capacity. And the cherry on top is ability to get to the appropriate temperature quickly. I've never had one quite like it and don't think I'll go back.

We moved into our home a year ago and noticed that water was leaking from the fridge all the way down to the kitchen sink. We pulled up the kitchen floor mat and saw major water damage to the wood floors as a result. Cause of issue unknown, but with further investigation saw ice buildup under the freezer tray. Even with correct temperature settings, ice continues to build up every few days causing water to leak out. We are very dissappointed!

Purchased the fridge in feb 2016. Within a few months, the fridge was freezing my food, ice was not being made and the freezer had a build up of ice. Freezer door was placed, not only once but twice. This was after a few service calls. Ice still wasn't working and temperature on the fridge had to be increased to 45 degrees so it wouldn't freeze food. Another service call to have the thermostat replaced. 5 days later and the same issue.
Kitchenaid is finally going to replace the fridge, thank goodness however I don't have a lot of faith in the product any longer. I wish the warrant was longer than one year.

We bought this refrigerator (and the matching dishwasher, stove, and microwave) when we remodeled our kitchen. These appliances were expensive but we were assured they were great quality. We have had trouble with the dishwasher, oven, and the refrigerator.
For the last several days, the refrigerator has been switching itself into and out of Sabbath mode. Every few minutes we can hear the beep as it switches back and forth. In Sabbath mode, the light and water dispenser do not function.
Our old Kenmore refrigerator (now relegated to the garage) has worked perfectly for 20 years. Why can't KitchenAid products work that well?

Unreliable - disappointing

Completely renovated our kitchen in the summer of 2014. Purchased all new appliances from a solid local dealer. After 3 years, this refrigerator suddenly stopped cooling and to make matters worse actively went into defrost mode. The temperature rose extremely fast and within 3 hours the internal temperature of the refrigerator exceeded the room temperature of 86°F (it was July). Needless to say, the food in the fridge and freezer were trash. We powered the unit off and called the dealer early the next day (the failure occurred on a Sunday). After 3 service calls over a 9 day period, the refrigerator was functioning again. The main control board and evaporator/condenser needed replacement. The control board cost ~$400 to replace although at least one of the service people suggested that the root cause of the failure was actually the other parts which were covered under warranty. Now 7 weeks later the same symptoms have returned, and we've had to trash all of the food. Service coming again tomorrow, but at this point I have zero confidence that this expensive appliance will not continue to give us enormous headaches.

Product had a defective foam insulation which came loose and jammed the evaporator fan. This caused the unit to overheat and the relay switch to stop working. Service gave me a date for a repair one week out, had to use a local repair for the fix. Who can wait a week for a repair especially when the product was a manufacturer defect? Very loud unit as well

We purchased an entire Kitchenaid appliance package when we built our home 7 years ago. I needed a cabinet depth refrigerator and this seemed to fit the space best. The refrigerator has ALWAYS been loud and noisy to the point when guests were in the home many asked what those noises were. I called out the dealer we purchased the refrigerator from, he said he could not find anything wrong. I also had an independent appliance repairman listen to it and look at, he too said nothing was wrong. Recently, we were away for a week to come home to our refrigerator setting in a pool of red juices from the thawed foods in the freezer as the compressor went out in a 7 year old refrigerator. I see other reviews mention short lived compressors and expensive repair bills on this model also. We spent the $650 to replace the compressor. The refrigerator does run much more quiet now. Although, I'm happier to have a much quieter kitchen I hope this compressor lasts much longer than the noisy one. Wondering if I purchased a lemon?

Small freezer holds very little. Fridge has cold spots that actually freezes food and destroys fruits and vegetables. Double doors don't close properly frequently leaving one of the doors partially open. Kitchenaid recommended Toronto Appliance Service who came 5 times and couldn't resolve the freezing food issues. This was all in less than a year. Get another fridge, this is a terrible choice.

Nice looking fridge, it broke and getting service to us has been nothing but a hassle. Guy drove all the way out only to tell us it will be at least one to two weeks. Glad I ddidnt get rid of our 10 year old fridge that WORKS.

This refrigerator was the largest counter-depth one that I could find. The only issue is that you have to be careful to fully close the doors. One tends to stay open a bit. It does beep to let you know that it is open though.

There is moisture that drips from the bottom of the double refrigerator doors. It also pools in top of the bottom freezer and freezes, thus causing an obstruction for the freezer drawer to close. The temperature is way too cold in the refrigerator, freezing my produce, though it is set at the recommended temp. I recently turned down the temp so we will see if that helps. The fridge access and drawers is good; the freezer has nice pull out drawers, but I do feel it limits storage space in the freezer. Looks good from the outside.

Very happy with the French doors, interior water and freezer on bottom. We do have multiple rust spots on exterior of fridge which is very aggravating. No one can provide any rationale as to why they are appearing. Wouldn't recommend as a result.

I've been using this refrigerator for a year now. It's nice and roomy plus offers filtered water. The freezer on the bottom also makes it pretty easy to get to the ice maker or frozen goods. All-in-all, this is a good fit for my kitchen. I did have to get the cabinet cutdown so I could fit the taller refrigerator into place. Counterdepth is perfect!

Purchased this refrigerator in 2010. Just finished paying $400+ to get the compressor replaced after only 6 years. This seems ridiculous to me. It is the most basic component of the refrigerator. If they can't make a compressor last more than 6 years, then I don't want it. Some other issues: Door seals started falling apart after 2-3 years. Drain pain was cracked after 2-3 years. Refrigerator compartment damper is very noisy, makes me wonder when it is going to fail. Water dispenser switch is sticking so that when you are done filling your glass and pull away, the water keeps coming out and makes a big mess. Freezer drawer tends to want to not close all the way, thus staying slightly open (just enough so you don't notice) and causing all your food to defrost. I could go on, but I think this is enough said, don't you?

The fridge looks great and works great. The counter depth model takes up less space on the outside yet still has plenty inside (in fact I like that I don't have recesses in the far back of the fridge which only ever seemed to attract things that would later be thrown out. I would highly recommend this fridge!

We received an extraordinarily good price on an open box item. For that reason we really love the refrigerator. Had we paid full price we would comment on some poor engineering. * The water dispenser drips after use * The water dispenser and ice are on the left. Opening and closing the left door causes the right door to come open. It took us a few days to train ourselves to close the right door fully after getting water or ice. Again given the great price we do love the appliance.

We purchased this refrigerator to match the KitchenAid 27-Inch Convection Combination Microwave Wall Oven, Architect® Series II since they are next to each other on the same wall, I love that I can open the doors and not have to bend over to look for items on a bottom shelf! We have had this refrigerator for a couple of months now and are very pleased with it. I like the clean look of the doors created by the interior water dispenser, and I like the removable shelf liners on the door shelves. The large bottom drawer is great for large casserole disher or pizza boxes. I worried that a cabinet-depth fridge wouldn't have enough room, but it's more than sufficient for us (family of three). It's very quiet as well.

The refrigerator works fine, but there's a flaw in the design of the self-defrosting section of the freezer compartment. The outlet grommet, gets clogged and does not permit the water to drip into the the evaporator pan, causing ice to from on the deck of the freezer compartment. This is due to the rubber grommet that should stay open but with time,it gets clogged. I had contacted Kitchenaid and all they could really tell me was to contact a repair person and pay for the repairs. Since water was leaking on to my floors I had not choice but to do this and pay. It cost $130. I felt and still feel, that since this is a design flaw in the manufacture's part,they should have covered the cost The unit is only about 2 to 3 years old.

Now I have to wait another 8 weeks for another door. This all started August of 2015. It's now January 2016. Whirlpool seems to have wrecked Kitchenaid quality that once was.

We love the storage space and the design of our new fridge. We initially had trouble regulating the temperature with issues of freezing items on the top shelf. We think we have it figured out now. The ice machine and water dispenser is great for our family. The French doors have no issues with closing- good design. I love the produce drawers - the food stays fresher longer.

We bought this fridge a month ago and we are very pleased with our purchase. The interior water tap is exactly what we wanted, a useful option that takes up much less space than a door dispenser. The shelves are well organized, and we especially like the bottom fridge tray for eggs and cheese. The three trays in the freezer make our items more accessible, and the ice tray scoop is great. This is our first counter-depth fridge and we're never going back. We highly recommend this fridge.

We bought this fridge in March 2015 as part of a new kitchen construction. We began to use it around Memorial Day. By September, the left side French door was malfunctioning. The seal/bumper on the door had come loose and the guide attached to top of the door no longer lined up with the opening on the fridge, which meant that to open or close the door, you had to manually move the guide into place. The first service call resulted in a tech telling me I had put too many heavy items on the left door and that I had unbalanced the fridge. ???? I never had this problem with other refrigerators. So I moved the heavy items to the right side door, he reattached the seal/bumper that had come loose, and we were good to go. Less than a month later, the same problem happened again. Note that this fridge is used by myself and my husband and occasionally by our adult daughter and we all work full time so no one is opening the fridge during the day. I don't have teenage boys opening it 75 times a day or swinging on it for fun. The second tech said the weight on the doors wasn't an issue, but the fridge wasn't balanced evenly. He fixed that and also pulled it out a little bit so the doors didn't come in contact with the cabinets on either side. So I have had two service issues within 5 months of use. After this experience. I decided to buy a 5-year warranty on the fridge, because I have no confidence the door seals will last or perform correctly past its one-year warranty. In other respects, it is a great appliance. I like the deep, adjustable shelves and it is easy to clean. I like the bottom freezer, although it seems to me to hold less than my old top freezer, perhaps because of all the drawers. They do make it easy to find things. Given the price of this unit, I don't think I made a smart choice buying it. I am hoping I won't have any further problems with the French doors, but I am not too optimistic. I believe there was a redesign shortly after I bought this mode. Perhaps the door issue was corrected in the new model.

maximize space for counter depth

bought this a month ago, huge upgrade over previous fridge. I wanted to stick with a counter depth fridge but maximize the space. I have a family of 6 and this works well for us. I'm not in love with having water inside the door - kids are constantly getting water out of the fridge, leaving the door open for quite a while and not always closing all the way. Closing the left side requires a little more push. However, this has given me reason to love the alarm when the temp rises too much. One other detail that I find annoying is the grate shelf in the freezer. Things can easily fall through it, and once they do they are hard to reach. I bought a thin foamed mat (for kitchen drawers and shelves, I believe) and cut it to size so there is at least a surface to catch falling items - cutting placemats might work too. Overlooking these two minor complaints, it feels like a premium product so far.

Nice clean looks, very cold water out of dispenser, quick and ample ice, so far I think the refrigerator has even cooling with no freeze spots like my last refrigerator. Quiet operation. So far I am very pleased with this refrigerator! Only concern is I noticed moisture on inside door edge but they have a humidity control button to turn on that feature to help alleviate that problem.

Very Happy with refrigerator. The counter depth fits very nicely between our cabinets and does not protrude into the kitchen. The only complaint we have is that it did come with an egg tray and all our other refrigerators have in the past. The refrigerator cools very nicely and it very quiet.
